Escape Alive
Escape Alive is a serious game created to teach employees how to safely evacuate a burning building. It was created for the Health and Safety at the University of Southern Queensland. In the game, employees navigate their way through replicas of the university buildings to find their way to evaculation points. Players must follow university protocols of closing doors, setting off alarms, crawling along the floor etc. in order to complete the game successfully. The protocols and objects (e.g. fire extinguishers) are based on Australian standards and provide the player with a realistic experience. As the fire in the building grows so does the smoke level. The player experiences poor visibility and their characters health declines quicker. They get a sense of the panic and confusion experienced by someone trapped in smoke.
